[NEWS]: Why I wasn’t surprised by my mother’s death – Omije Ojumi’s son

.......

Bobby Williams Adeoye, son of late gospel singer Omije Ojumi, has revealed that he wasn’t entirely surprised by his mother’s passing, recalling she often spoke about death while alive.

He paid an emotional tribute to his mother during her service of songs, describing his mother as a loving, caring, and strong woman who dedicated her life to his success.

In his tribute, he recalled Omije Ojumi’s cheerful nature and jokes that made their home a happy place, stating that her humour is one of the things he misses the most since her passing.

“My mother was a very loving, beautiful, and caring person to me, actually. So she was very, very strong. She will do anything to see me come first in anything, or even in class. Anytime I come back from school, she always wants to know what happened. So, that is the loving part about mommy. She’s the best mother in the world to me.

“When I heard she was dead, I was not that surprised because she had always been saying it. She has always been saying it. She cracked jokes to make everyone lively, and that’s the main reason why I also miss Mommy. I know you’re dead right now, but you will always be alive in my heart and in my dreams. I love you mommy. May your soul rest in peace.”

Omije Ojumi, whose real name is Bunmi Akinaanu Adeoye, passed away on January 12, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of gospel music, sacrifices, and dedication as a mother.

[NEWS]: WhatsApp Is Finally About To Launch A Long-Anticipated New Feature

WhatsApp is about to introduce a major new capability, it’s reported and it will finally allow users of the WhatsApp web app to take part in voice and video calls.

The report comes from the authoritative WhatsApp watcher, WABetaInfo, which cautions that the new features are not quite live yet, but are on the way.

Calling capabilities for the web client had been partially previewed before, but haven’t come to fruition yet.

WhatsApp Web Voice And Video Calls: What’s Coming

Frase By Forbes

“if you are using a computer that is not your own, you can rely on WhatsApp Web to place calls without installing a native or hybrid desktop app,” the report said. That would mean that users would be able to control call notifications they receive from WhatsApp Web.

It also means that features currently available on the Android and iOS apps will be more widely accessible. “Following recent updates to the WhatsApp Web beta, we discovered that WhatsApp is actively developing voice and video calls for group chats,” the report went on.

This will mean that you can join a call whether you’re on your iPhone, Android phone or desktop. This flexibility is already offered by rival services like FaceTime, where you can hand off calls from one device to another seamlessly. But FaceTime, of course, only works on Apple devices while WhatsApp covers Android and PC as well — just one of the reasons it has grown so fast, outside the U.S., at least.

WhatsApp Web Group Calls: How They’ll Work

It could mean that group calls could support up to 32 participants, though likely a smaller number at first. “This added compatibility will ensure that all users can participate in group calls, regardless of the device they are using,” WABetaInfo said.

The way the different platforms will align is also expected to grow, with users “to instantly generate a shareable link that others can use to join the call. When creating a call link, users will be able to choose whether it is for a voice or video call, just as they can on WhatsApp for Android and iOS,” it said.

Additionally, there will be capabilities to schedule calls, both for individual and group chats.

WhatsApp Web Calling: Release Date Expectations

Although no date has been set for the features to go live, this flexibility of calling has been long requested and it’s likely to arrive in weeks rather than months.

In a statement signed by his Press Officer on Local Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, Saraki said the late Shaykh’s more than four decades of leadership on the mimbar established him as a moral compass and spiritual authority whose influence extended beyond Ilorin and Kwara State.

From the pulpit, his sonorous voice consistently called the faithful to righteousness, peace, discipline and communal harmony, reinforcing Ilorin’s historic reputation as a centre of Islamic scholarship and moderation,” Saraki said.

A special effects artist, James Akaie, has died following an explosion during a film production in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The incident occurred during a filming session and was confirmed on Friday in a statement by the film’s producer and director, James Abinibi, who described the incident as tragic and deeply painful for the production team.

“It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we confirm a tragic accident occurred on location in Abeokuta as filming was coming to a wrap, resulting in the death of our esteemed colleague and friend, James Akaie,” the statement read.

According to the production team, Akaie, a Special Effects and Pyrotechnics Artist, was involved in an unexpected explosion that happened in a designated effects preparation area outside the main film set.

“James succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. His two other assistants sustained some fire burns and were immediately taken to a specialist hospital where they received immediate attention and were later confirmed stable as they continue receiving treatment,” the statement added.

Abinibi said investigations have begun to determine the cause of the explosion, noting that the production team is cooperating with relevant authorities.

“The specific circumstances leading to the explosion are currently under a thorough investigation by the relevant authorities. We are cooperating fully with this investigation as we further conduct our own internal review.”

He added that the team would withhold further details out of respect for the victim’s family and the ongoing investigation.
